Term: 6 month contract
Hours: 1 day per week (the day of the week may change as needed)
The Royal Society, the UK’s national academy of science, is seeking a Wikimedian-in-Residence to facilitate a closer working relationship between the Wikimedia movement and the Royal Society.
We are looking for a Wikipedia editor with experience of delivering successful events, workshops or training. The position would suit someone with experience of working with professional scientists and with the Wikimedia community. The position is part-time for a fixed term of 6 months. The successful candidate will be expected to work for one day per week (the day of the week may change as needed).
The Wikimedian-in-Residence will work with the Society to improve access to information about scientists from underrepresented groups; open up the Society’s historical collections; and improve the quality of scientific articles on Wikipedia. The job will involve organising and running presentations, workshops, training sessions and edit-a-thons with staff, Fellows, scientists and members of the public on using Wikimedia platforms. The successful candidate will be expected to manage the programme of activities with the aim of improving collaboration between the Royal Society, Wikimedia UK and Wikimedia community, potentially leading to a sustainable relationship.
The Society has received funding from Wikimedia UK to support this post.
